Together this event will bring two separate Arenas. ‘Arena A’ will feature StanceNation Approved rides competing against one another for the Trophy rights, prize packs and securing their pride and joy 1 of 3 StanceNation features up for grabs!- ‘Arena B’ will be a Show ‘n’ Shine meet for one and all to come together and represent as a crew, club, team, individual or just because.

Since leaving the sunshine state just over 12hours ago, my facebook has overflowed with praise and just good old fashion kindness! I don’t even know how to start thanking all the people who took the time to sit down and write me a paragraph about how one day has changed their expectations and appreciation for a scene we all hold so close to our hearts… and I’d be lying if I didn’t feel the same.

My face still tingles from the sunburn, which reminds me of every face and every car that I personally greeted and parked (it’s honestly my favourite part!). Meeting all the people who have taken time out of their lives to support the scene and support All Stars is something special which I personally look forward to at every event.

All Stars Gold Coast was ‘All Stars’ in all shapes and forms. The vibe, serenity and people, all so chilled and tight knit together. There was not one single hiccup or cloud in the sky! The quality of cars was absolute, even locals expressing that they hadn’t ever seen so many of these cars before. I was blown away, and still am.

I still don’t think this little blurb comes close to expressing the happiness and gratitude I’m feeling and I honestly don’t think staring at this screen any longer will help me find the words. All I know is, last Sunday at ‘All Stars Gold Coast 2013’ something special happened. I personally can’t wait to pack my bags and do it all again!

My previous was a BMW E46 sedan. Most of you may have seen it at its final stage at ‘Showcased’. Fitted with 17×9 +6 and 17×10.5 +13 Hamann PG-1 3 piece wheels running ridiculous camber in the rear in order to get most of the rear tyres under the guards. It was dropped on AirForce air suspension which made the car sit straight on the tyres when aired out. It is my most memorable car to date, it went through 14 wheel changes and 4 suspension changes. I still miss it to date.

Why the BMW?

Well, having previously owned a BMW, i guess i just began to love the way they drive. Also, hanging around many people with BMWs had slowly turned me into a BMW fanatic.
But don’t get me wrong, I appreciate and love many other makes aswell!
When it was time to sell the E46, I knew I wanted another BMW and i chose the E90 as i wanted something different, something people haven’t modded before. At the time, I really didn’t see many E90s on the roads let alone modded ones.

Talk us through the modifications

Since I was pretty set on getting the E90 as my next car, I started looking for parts before even getting the car. My first modification (like many others) was obviously the suspension. I was looking for various types of suspension that were available for the E90. I looked into air suspension again like my old E46 but a kit for the E90 was close to $5k. I wasn’t prepared to pay so much so soon after getting the car and I felt I could use the money for other parts. So i started looking into coilovers. I read around and people were recommending BC coilovers. A fellow Agentz member, Ray was running BC coilovers and as some of you may have seen at the ‘Showcased’ event, his E60 was slammed. He drove it from Melbourne to Sydney at that height and highly recommended them to me. So I purchase some BC BR Extreme drop kits from a company in the States. This meant they utilize a standard BC BR coilover kit but run shorter shocks and springs so that it can drop a further 3-4″. At my current height, I’m only half way through the threads.
Next were the wheels. This was probably the hardest, since I wanted genuine 3 piece wheels and as you know, BMW has a 5×120 PCD making things harder to find nice wheels. I had many cases where the sellers were dodgy and tried taking my money. Happened twice when buying from Germany. That aside, i ended up getting some Work Equip 05s straight from Japan. Something not too common for BMWs. The specs are pretty conservative, at 18×9 +12 and 18×10.5 +27. Wasn’t too sure how they’d fit as I didn’t have wheels to calculate the specs or compare with, was just going off what other people on the net were running. All in all, i was pretty happy with the specs but as usual, wanting more, I fitted a 3mm spacer upfront and 10mm spacer in the rear. Other modifications include the ARQRAY front lip and an ARQRAY titanium exhaust.

What are the future plans?

I don’t really have much planned for the car. I just want a simple and clean looking car. Currently, I’m looking at getting some thinner tyres so that I can run a more flush setup. I’ve also been looking into either widening the wheel lips to get more dish and a more aggressive stance, or even possibly getting a new set of wheels.

What do you think of ALLSTARS?

I reckon the guys at ALL STARS are awesome at doing what they do. The meets and events they organise have always had a massive outcome, it gives a chance for most of us to take a break from our daily lives and just come together and chill with other car enthusiasts. What I like most is that ALL STARS does not only focus on one type of style, or make of cars but instead takes the time to fuse the diverse car culture.

What was the first car you owned and what car do you own now and why? 

My first car was a Honda Integra DC5, I leaned over to the JDM side of things with that car. I had a set of black Rota Grids with BC coilovers, just a simple little P-plater car and then it was time to get my full licence so i now own a Subaru WRX STI.

Well it all started when I was 4 years old my dad used to own a Ford XD, it was a replica of “Dick Johnson’s true blue” Ford XD and from that car I said to my dad that I will one day own a fast blue car. A couple of years after he sold that a mate of his let him drive his 99 WRX which was also blue and gave it one squirt and instantly fell in love with that deep sound of a boxer motor. So I guess I’ve always had this passion for boxer engines and the colour blue and said to myself why not get a Subaru ? And I now own one.

Why a Subaru ? Why this car in particular ?

I’ve always loved em even from a very young age. I Even used to watch the world rally championships with Colin McRae and Chris Atkinson and that excited me even more into buying a Subaru when I was old enough.

What do you like most about it ?

Just everything about it, its curves and lines that were produced from Subaru, also that it gets so much attention when I drive around because there’s not many stanced STI’s in Sydney. I mean, I went to Melbourne for this car in particular. Finding a clean STI in Sydney started to become quite a challange, it was a bit of a gamble flying down there with my Dad and mate Julian (JAP-15R) to check it out but the gamble was well paid off as we came across one of the cleanest STI”s I’ve seen. I mean It still had the standard head deck and the car was just untouched. We then signed all the paperwork needed and made our way back to Sydney. For those 9 hours of driving between me and my dad I really got to know that feeling of what it felt like to own my very own Rex.

Talk us through some modifications and future plans.

Engine mods consist of a 3 inch Turbo XS exhaust system turbo back to give it that Rexy purr, Simota carbon fibre short ram air intake, Turbosmart BOV, Grimspeed boost controller set at 18psi, A Mongoose m80 alarm system, a set of BC BR coilovers with camber tops front and rear, whiteline strut brace in the engine bay, whiteline rear camber and toe arms, pedders rear camber bolts, 2005 STI brake lights, Titanium Neo chrome extended wheel nuts and Of course the wheels which are a set of AME TM02 Tracers in a dark gunmetal. Dimensions are 18×10 +15 wrapped up in Achillies ATR Sports 225/40/18 to give me that stretch.

Future mods will consist of a triple guage dash pod with Defi guages, JDM window visors. The car has been dynoed by the previous owner at 210kw atw and possibly aiming at something like the 260kw mark but first i need to replenish my bank account lol.

What do you think of All Stars?

I love what they’re doing with the Australian car seen, especially here on the east coast. Thanks to the groups like All Stars, our car scene has been able to grow even larger giving everyone the chance to share there passion for cars. Ide like to thank All Stars for featuring my ride and wish them all the best in the near future. And I’m sure there’s bigger and better things to come from Australia’s car scene.

I would also like to thank everyone who has participated in helping me out with my current build starting from Julian and Robert Meoli from “Prestige Tyre And Auto”, Chris from “Hesmans Steering”, Daniel from “Moorebank Pedders”, Nick from NRG Automotive at Rydalmere, Budi from Autotechnik and of course my mates for all those long hard nights helping me out.

The first car I owned was a Mazda MX-5. I owned that for about 6 years and it went through many changes. It got to the point where it was becoming inpractial to own. I went too crazy with it! It was slammed on its guts (60mm off the ground), decked out with a Mazdaspeed NRA cage, fixed back seats, super loud exhaust that would blow your ear drums… you get where I’m going with this. Anyway, the other big decider was that I hurt my back whilst I was at work. So even attempting to sit in the car was impossible without inflicting pain all over my body.

That is when I knew I had no choice but to let it go and go for something new. I was keen as mustard on some sort of Silvia (thanks to my partners S14) but I decided to look into a car I used to stuff around with on video games, the Nissan Stagea.
I didn’t know too much about these wagons but the more reasearch I did, the more fascinated I became. Soon enough, I made the trek to country Victoria to pick up the model I was after

There is a story behind why this car, what is it?

My plan with the Stagea was to have a car I could keep when I have a family, chuck a baby seat in the back but still be able to have fun with it. Basically something much more practical then the MX5 I previously owned. In saying that I wanted to take it out for a slide every now and again.

I started to modify it to my taste (was a blank canvas when I bought it) but shortly after, I discovered I was going to loose my licence for 6 months. So my motivation for the car had deminished completely. I ended up stripping it back to standard and even put it up for sale. In the mean time I bought a R33 Skyline with the plan to attend as many drift days as I could. It was set up well and didn’t really need much money thrown at it … until the engine blew. Luckily there wasn’t much interest in the Stagea and I still had it so it became the run of the mill daily driver.

I opted to get a fresh, rebuilt engine in the R33 so I could get back into drifting worry free. That plan had went to shit, the rebuild engine was a complete dud and ended up costing me a lot of extra coin, time and heartache. Long story short there were many problems that Anthony from Dahtone fixed with it (it was built by a company called Power Play), it was looking like there was light at the end of the tunnel. It was off to get its final tune the night before Racelines Wakefield Matsuri … it made it through that and made mad power (315kw @15psi). It was until Anth drove it out of Micks Motorsport the RB decided to snap the tensioner bolt. Shortly after, I had given up on the Skyline and parted it out. I then decided to go back to to basics and fulfil my original plan with the Stagea.

Talk us through some of the modifications.

The Stagea has been decked out in every way possible. It was ment to be a simple build but as usual I got carried away. It originally started life as a RS4 (4WD model) and an automatic. So it underwent a manual conversion utilizing a R32 GTR gearbox and ORC clutch. The turbo has been upgraded to a Kando TD06 and it now has a turbosmart wastegate so I can scare fellow motorists on the road. I took the Haltech E11 out of the R33 and Anthony made it work with the Stagea (The Stagea has a unique wiring harness). The current setup made 235kw on 18psi, but I think there is room for more once I put a larger intercooler on it.
The brakes were also kept off the R33, as well as my S14 subframe. The S14 subframe was one of the first things I did, as automatic Stagea rear subframes are wider, which causes problems trying to fit wider wheels (both inner clearance and outer clearance). Shortly after, my mate Benny found a set of SSR Viennas in 18×9.5 +5 and 18×10.5 -7 in Japan, they were exactly what I was after so I snapped them up.
Suspension wise it’s the usual adjustable arms, coilovers etc. I’m currently getting rid of the 4WD/GTR type front end and converting to R chassis front knuckles, this’ll give me more lock and remove the driveshafts going through the knuckles, it’ll also let me use S/R chassis tie rod ends too.
The exterior hasn’t been changed drastically. I’ve added Kouki tail lights, clear side indicators, clear front indicators, and a NA front grille. My Stagea is a DAYZ edition, which was a special option from factory. So it has a nice, less Volvo looking bodykit. Oh and I added a front lip too off a Subaru WRX, I think I’ll take it off soon though. Interior has been kept minimal, I’ve changed the steering wheel, gauges to monitor vitals and swapped the front seats for R32 GTR items.

What do you like most about it?

I like being able to load it up with all my spares and tools, drive to the track and drift it’s wheels off. It’s such a practical car. Carrys 5 adults comfortably, can fit almost anything in it (I’ve had all sorts of shit in the back) … It’s rad!

What are your future plans?

Well I recently blew my diff at the last South circuit practice night and it runs out of rego this month. So I’m ripping it apart to do the R chassis front knuckle conversion I mentioned earlier, and modding the front so I can go lower. I’m going a whole new diff setup with a shorter final drive and 5 bolt shafts instead of the 3×2 currently. The rear wheel wells need to be modded in order to go lower too. I’ve got a HKS return flow intercooler to fit too. I’m hoping to have it all done by April so I can enjoy a full day on the SMP South circuit.

What had started as a mostly fine day soon escalated into rain and clouds in the early afternoon but this would not dampen the spirits of the organizational crew who were determined to hold the event rain, hail or shine. As cars started rolling in at 6pm, there was already a feeling that this would be huge. I arrived at 6:30 and there was already a line stretching around the bend of Ferrers Road. A short delay in entry due to the sheer amount of cars was expected but I was happily in a parking spot within 20 minutes. After that, the cars entered thick and fast, and what an array of vehicles there was!

Everything from your usual Japanese and European street styles mixed up with modified Australian cars, bone-shaking doorslammer drag racers and even a small collection of motorcycles. The vibe was electric and kept going strong into the night. Leaving at around 10pm, there was still a huge presence of cars not only inside but also a vast stretch of cars parked outside due to overflow. For the most part, the night went smoothly, and only a few of the usual hiccups arose.

Another successful Mega Meet, and this will definitely solidify it as an iconic annual event! Great work to Top Secret Imports, Project D Drift School and THE-LOWDOWN.com for organizing such a colossal event. Well done, looking forward to Mega Meet 2014 already!
